Patient tracking & analytics
Connect Google, Meta, or TikTok analytics to your patient portal — and the compliance decision that comes with it.
You can wire your patient portal up to the big analytics and ad platforms to measure signups and orders. It lives under Settings → Tracking.
Read this first — it's a compliance decision, not just a setting. Analytics and ad platforms are not HIPAA business associates. Sending events from a healthcare property is a choice your clinic owns, and regulators have pursued health businesses over exactly this. Make sure it fits your privacy policy, your patient notices, and your own legal counsel's advice before you switch it on. You'll be asked to acknowledge this in the dashboard.
What you can connect
Enter the ID for any platform you use — leave the rest blank:
- Google Analytics 4 — Measurement ID
G-XXXXXXXXXX(GA4 → Admin → Data streams → Measurement ID) - Google Tag Manager — Container ID
GTM-XXXXXXX(manage any other tag from inside your own container) - Meta (Facebook) Pixel — Pixel ID (Events Manager → Data sources → Pixel ID)
- TikTok Pixel — Pixel ID (TikTok Ads Manager → Assets → Events)
Turning it on
- Paste in at least one ID and click Save IDs.
- Read and accept the compliance acknowledgement (a checkbox confirming your clinic takes responsibility for third-party tracking on your patient portal).
- Flip Enable tracking. The badge switches to Live.
You can't enable tracking until both a valid ID and the acknowledgement are in place — that's intentional.
What gets sent (and what never does)
To keep data minimal, events carry only product IDs, quantities, and order value — never product names, health details, or anything that identifies a patient. That's a deliberate guardrail, but it doesn't remove your underlying compliance responsibility for using ad-tech on a health property.
Turning it off
Flip Enable tracking off at any time and events stop immediately. Your IDs are kept so you can re-enable later without re-entering them.
