Referrals: reward patients who refer

Reward patients for bringing friends, and design your own referral offers.

Referrals turn happy patients into your best marketing channel. Existing patients share a code, new patients get a reward for using it, and the referrer earns a reward too. You design the offer on the Promotions page under referral tiers.

How it works for patients

1. An existing patient finds their referral code in the patient app under Refer a Friend and shares it.
2. A new patient enters that code when they sign up.
3. The reward is granted after the new patient's first purchase — not just for signing up — so you only pay out on real revenue. Credits expire if unused (90 days by default).

A patient can only be referred once, but a referrer can share their code with as many people as your offer allows.

Designing a referral offer (tiers)

A "tier" is a named referral offer. Click New referral tier and set:

• Name — e.g. "Standard Referral" (patients see this in their rewards).
• Code (optional) — a specific code for this offer (e.g. HOLIDAY2026).
• Description — shown to patients in the rewards section.
• Referrer reward (the person sharing) and New patient reward (the person signing up). Each can be a $ Credit, a % Off, or a Free product — set the amount, percentage, or which product variants they can choose from.
• Min. order value, Max total uses, and Max per referrer to cap your exposure (0 = unlimited).

Optional switches:

• Private tier — only reachable by entering its code directly (good for targeted campaigns).
• Special offer — features it with a countdown, a promo label ("Limited Time!"), an expiry, and custom "you earn / friend gets" wording.

Your default offer

One tier is your default — the offer applied when a new patient signs up without a specific tier code. Use the Make default (star) action to set it; only one tier can be default at a time. Set up a solid default first, then layer special or private tiers on top for campaigns.

Managing tiers

From the list you can Make default, Activate/Deactivate (the eye), edit, or delete each tier. Referrals are available on every plan, and can be switched off for your clinic entirely if you don't want to run a program.
